Beauty of Semporna

Hey Its me haeroo.

On April 2016, right after I'm finished my industrial training at Department of Environment (DOE) in Putrajaya, I got lucky to visit Semporna. For those who do not know, Semporna is a town which surrounded by many beautiful islands in Sabah, Malaysia. In order to get there, We need to ride a van from Tawau airport. Our journey from the airport was merrier and colourful. As for now is season for them celebrating Regatta Lepa and every village hang their flag along the road.

Warning: All these photos is not google image and not a photoshop. Photo taken by using Iphone 6 only. As you can see, Sabah is definitely beyond amazing. Proud Malaysian here.

Mabul Island, Semporna
From Semporna, we traveled to every islands by riding a boat. Not that boat in the picture by the way. But ya, that boat in the picture, the white one at the back I mean. Staying at a homestay which located in Mabul island for 3 days 2 nights. This is our homestay entrance look like (picture above).  Such a breathtaking view. During our stay, we had visited some islands such as Bohey Dulang, Sibuan Island, the village of the sea people, Mantabuan Island, and Mabul of course. Our activities just snorkeling for the whole day and enjoying the seafood meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I am never getting bored instead amazed by the stunning view, coral creatures, and the sea people. Everything was perfect. Sometimes I felt like I was in Maldives (never been in Maldives btw).

Bohey Dulang, Mabul Island
Out of many islands of Mabul, Bohey Dulang is one of them and among the famous one. This view is from the base. Hiking about 600 meter plus is needed in order to reach the peak of Bohey Dulang. Even though it is not adventurous and the trekking is a bit flat and easy, but still I am felt dizzy and about to faint. Such a weak body of mine. And to be honest, that is why I am not joining any activities regarding hiking anymore, due to not enough stamina. Hmm.

Bohey Dulang, Mabul Island
Hoorayyy, finally I am succeed. This is the view from the peak of Bohey Dulang. I do not know how to describe this. Too beautiful. My tiredness naturally disappear. Oh ya, for your information, Bohey means water and Dulang means tray. In conclusion, water  surrounded by a tray, they said.

Sibuan Island
This is Sibuan Island. This island is unique. The water is very clean and can see through. As you can see, the water level is shallow, and the deep ocean is far away in the middle. In addition, there is village here. I am not making enough time to get to the village due to this panorama. I am deeply amazed. But, make it in Mabul, get to visit their village. Most of them let the door open widely, and no land there, only sand.

While snorkeling here, it makes me realize that too many things I need to explore in the future. A part of I cant hiking, I cant swim too. I have so many weak points, yes I know that. My snorkeling experiences here a bit different when I was in Thailand. The tour guide is too kind.  He help me and my friend. We just need to hold on a float, then he will pull the float with him. Thus, the three of us snorkeling together. Because of him, I can see the  beautiful corals of deep ocean and other creatures clearly and quietly. Oh ya, his swimming skill is super amazing, even can beats turtle speed (here famous of turtles). Dear Malaysia, please make him representative of Malaysia in Olympic. Honest review.

This is me. Still not giving up on the float, but taking picture is a must.

Mabul Island
After all the activities, going back to this little girl at our homestay. She is practically living at the sea, and the boat is their home. Her hair naturally that colour. saloon who? They come to us and try to sell their catches such as fish, crab, prawn and etc for some earn.

Bukit Tengkorak, Semporna
On the last day in Semporna, guess what we do ? hiking again guys. Proud of myself. This time via stairs. A bit high also..for me. Basically, from here, you can see the whole Semporna.

Semporna, Sabah
Oh ya, in April every year, they are celebrating Regatta Lepa which is a festival that every village must participate and representing a decorated boat. And, in every boat, there is  sumandak (girl) who dancing to their traditional music. Most of them is Bajau. Due to this festival which only occur in Semporna, many people come to visit here, from every nook of Sabah.

From my point of view, Semporna is Malaysia's Maldives. All the island had their own uniqueness and the seascapes is dope. The corals too. Truthfully, many more islands unexplored yet, maybe in the future will do, Insya Allah.

Till next time, Adios.
